Linux - Screencasts Forum Has Been Added to LQ

We're proud to announce the addition of a Linux Screencasts forum. The intention of these screencasts are to show the boot process and default desktop environment of a wide variety of Linux distributions. In some cases we will also post an installation video. If you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see, how we can improve the screencasts, or just have general feedback, please visit this thread. We are currently simply capturing the entire session to WebM.

Thanks Jeremy. Is there a standalone screen recorder for Mint 17.0?

Thanks

I'm not a Linux Mint user (although it looks quite nice), but it looks like they recommend Istanbul, recordMyDesktop and xvidcap.

Hey, cool!

I can say that two very good ones are vokoscreen and SimpleScreenRecorder. SSR hides better than vokoscreen, so I use that one more now.

Screen cast is a great idea.

It is a great idea to create all these screen casts. It will be a great help for beginners.

I have a good friend of mine that does a bunch of youtube and live events on youtube. Remember the days of LUG's getting together and doing a mass linux install. well i am sure adam01time could handle that for people and they could also have input during the event. Just a thought. It will be done in Slackware.

So why not have a world wide linux install. I mean the world is ready and the bandwidth is there now.

This is a Great Ideal...

Just wanted to thank you for all that you do here for us Jeremy. This is a great I site for the new comer to Linux this a good thing. I been using Linux for about 2 years now, and the great thing about is that you can never stop learning it. When I come here I get great answers to my questions. Also when I come here I feel like a member and not like a beginner, no one here will puts you down because you really don't know and you are just trying to rap your head around this thing. Sorry if I am in the wrong place to say this, just got a little emotional there.

Confused

At this particular stage of enlightenment of the Linux System, I am overwhelmed at the amount of available information on systems, distributions and what is compatible with what.I am not completely sure of what I want other than the fact I wish to move outside of the Windows sphere. I can see that I have a lot of reading to do regarding the rather large amount of provided data.
I have this idea of building my own network, of servers, databases, and workstations then placing them on the internet.I have 9 Fujitsu-Siemens computers that I recently acquired from a friend minus hard drives.I have since purchased new hard drives for the systems. The motherboards, in some cases are Tyan Tempest, Thunder and others that run dual processors XEON,and others.
So I will be looking for assistant in determining software etc...
