Google: Linux Picasa uses Wine but Earth will be native

Thats right, take a look here... http://blogs.zdnet.com/Burnette/?p=124#comments

One other thing... http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/fron.../03/2003311446

To sum up the news:

Google says if Picasa is a success with linux users, it'll port other apps that google has through the wine capatability layer. *cries* oh.. but wait.. Google earth will be native! Assumming the previous succeeds.

While china is is pushing the need for computers to be capatible with Linux, then centralizing to the Windows OS.

I wonder if Irfanview works in WinE,,, That's the free general image manipulation tool I liked in windows! Go check before I hit the post button:

I'm proud to say that it ran just fine!

I'm ashamed to say it ran just fine! We need windows-like programs native to linux... As a windows guru, I really did not like Picasa because it seemed like it was written to be used by a monkey!~ As a linux newbie, I guess I liked Picassa because it works and if that is what there is, go with it! Now that they say it runs on wine, I don't know...

Maybe I'll figure out how RPM files are created and just put the Irfan view files from my windows partition into a RPM package.
