Question zombie processes

If zombie processes do not consume system resources how come I am noticing an increase in zombie processes leads to an increase in the swap space usage? What else could be affecting my server? kindly advice

A zombie process is no longer being run, hence no cpu usage; however any memory it acquired it still locked and will be swapped out of RAM into SWAP partition by the scheduler.
Your main problem is to discover the src of the problem and fix that.; typically a forking process where the parent dies before the child.

Hi,

I have found alot of zombie's which lead to ligh load in my server. Best way to check that is to kill the zombie process and check your swap space again.
