YUM not working
Hi all, I have configure yum server on rhel 6, It work properely for some time. But suddenly stop to install and list the rpm. Can anyone tell me what may be the reasons.............
I have check it, but not of any use........ |
It would be better to post here the error message it throws when it stops working.
Regards. |
Error is:
[root@Server Desktop]# yum list Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit, rhnplugin This system is not registered with RHN. RHN support will be disabled. Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: InstallMedia. Please verify its path and try again |
You should register with RHN in order to get the packages on RED HAT.
Here is link about RHN. ---------- Post added 02-22-13 at 03:16 PM ---------- If you dont want to pay for support, Start using some FREE DISTRO like CENTOS, Fedora etc. |

Second, I agree with previous poster you CAN'T use official RHEL repos if you are not subscribed with RHN. And, for what its worth, the error in bold lines is because of you still have the installation media set as the primary repo. Go into the /etc/yum.repos.d directory and delete the packageit-media.repo file. Regards. |

I'm not sure of what more explanation I can provide. Please read carefully my post #8 and if still confused, search.

Re post #8, I'd just set 'enable=no' rather than delete it; you might want to use it one day.

I reckon that'll be a better idea if the OP knows what he's doing.
