yum issue


Hi all

Is it possible to use SFTP in yum. As per my company policies ftp,vsftp are disabled in my server.

Please advise on this. Googled the same but didnt get any valid points

If you Googled for it, you should have already seen that you can't do it. And it would help if you told us what version/distro of Linux you're using, too.

You MIGHT be able to tunnel ftp over SSH, but again, that's a *MAYBE*, depending on your companies network.

I would expect a company network to be restricted to their RHN subscription. Probably a locally mirrored repo inside the DMZ.

Even for the local communication we dont allow anything except SFTP and SCP. This is the issue.
