Yum configuration issue.


Hi Team,

I had configured yum in our server RHEL 5.3 but while installing software am getting below error,

[root@localhost ~]# yum install openvpn
Loaded plugins: rhnplugin, security
This system is not registered with RHN.
RHN support will be disabled.
http://local/path/to/yum/repository/...ta/repomd.xml: [Errno 4] IOError: <urlopen error (-2, 'Name or service not known')>
Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: myrepo. Please verify its path and try again
[root@localhost ~]#

anybody please help me out for successful yum configuration...

Hi a.abdulna,

It seems like your RHEL 5.3 is not registered in RH. You need to register first your RH.

Here is the comment from chrism01 for pre-requesites in running yum command...

Pre-requisites:
1. It'll need to be connected to the internet
2. you need to have paid the RH subscription for this machine and registered it with RH.
