can someone explain how to use YUM to install ?

If you can using fedora and connected to internet, just type
root# yum install <package name>
For example
root# yum install samba

1) su
2) yum list available > available-packages.txt
.. will save a text file in /home/"user-name"/
Then you have the names of all installable packages.

Or use 3) yum search <name>
.. or part of name, to find the package name.

4) yum install <package>
.....
