What is yum and lilo?

YUM is the Yellowdog Updater, Modified -- an tool for Redhat linux (and ones based upon it) that is used to install, remove, and update packages, all while automatically resolving dependencies.

lilo is the linux boot loader, used to boot a linux system. (An alternative to this is GRUB, which is the GRand Unified Bootloader.)

hi deepak,

yum is dependancy resolver by this you can resolve rpms dependency which came in rhel 5 version.By making repo you can esily install the rpms.for creating repo you have to in this file /etc/yum.repos.d/rhel-debuginfo.repo
and make some changes.

while dif between lilo and grub, you will get this info in below mention link
