i just installed zorin12 onto my 32 bit dell 2400. now youtube and all other online videos seem to be skipping frames.

Probably because from the looks of it, you're using very old hardware that can barely play HTML 5 video. You could probably make a few memory optimisations somehow but... I don't think it'd achieve much.

Hello and welcome to LQ.
Did it work correctly with some other distro? |
Hi:;)
If this is your machine..... https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-d...on-2400/specs/ I recommend Anti-X. It was designed for older computers. http://antix.mepis.org/index.php?title=Main_Page |
And if you install AntiX. Use SMTube in Antix to watch youtube. Not your browser.
Smtube can be installed in Zorin how ever. http://zoringroup.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8975 |
Yeah, Zorin is buggy and slow. What did you have before? If you are just a user not a techy person I recommend Linux Lite or Peppermint OS.

How about playing Youtube vids on VLC player to see if it's any better?
Install VLC media player. Go to Youtube and select a vid. Copy the URL of the vid from your browser address bar (should be something like 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N...') Open VLC and select Media → Open Location from clipboard, and paste the URL you copied previously. VLC will now play the Youtube vid. You can now see if the vid plays better than html5 or Flash. With VLC you have options like fast forward and even record. |
