yeah...i need help

I'm now familiar with the Redhat 9 OS...but thats about where it ends.

1) How do RPM files work...I read the documentation, but am still confused.

2) How do i get XMMS to work so I can play my mp3's. I went to xmms.org and downloaded the redhat 9 deal, but cant get it to work. it just plays the first second of the mp3 file, then crashes.

3) How do I permanently mount my other hard drive. I can mount it, but lose it whenever I log off/reboot.

Please help this poor newbie...he really needs it!

First, I am going to be mean to you and ask you to read How to ask questions about Linux

Download these:
Linux Newbie Administrator Guide
Rute User's Tutorial and Exposition

Especially read these:
LNAG - How do I install a program I downloaded from the Internet?
Rute Guide's software explanation

Could you please rephrase your question so we can help now? A different post with a meaningful subject would be in order I think.

Check out this site for rpm and software installation
http://www.desktop-linux.net/packages.htm

Goto www.xmms.org to get an addon package so xmms will play mp3 files.

Sounds like you will need to update your /etc/fstab file auto mount your other hard drive. Be sure to research this a bit , If you do it wrong , many problems ! ( been there , done that , got the t shirt )

to permanently mount partitions, you have to edit the /etc/fstab file

I suggest you do a forum search to find out how to do it (it ends up being pretty easy)

Great. It will make your learning curve so much easier.

You will be amazed at the problems you solve in attempting to post a good question. I think I learned more from that first link in how to think about Linux than any other.
