When you installed openSUSE it placed in your home folder a pdf called Getting Started with openSUSE (or something like that). A good time to read it would be now.

@InfinitePalindrome: Why not just tell us what winblows app you are trying to install? It's quite possible there is a GNU/Linux native alternative!

I almost can't belive that this thread has come so far.
InfinitePalindrome,PLEASE read what's on this link, then PLEASE read what's on this
link and then PLEASE have a look here.
If you do that, and if you do it so that you understand what's written on those pages you will be able to run many, many Window$ programs on your Linux operating system, because Yast will do then all for you and all you will have to do is to type wine in the search field of the Yast and then mark it for installation.
Will you answer me just one question, why are you using Linux(openSUSE)anyway?

alright, so since i looked through the thread and didn't see a explanation for Zypper, here's what Zypper is: Zypper is the utility you can use on the command line (terminal) to install packages. it's like YaST, but without the interface and lockup...to install Wine using Zypper, do this in a terminal:

Code:
su
and enter your root password, then do this:
Code:
zypper install wine
Zypper will then automatically download Wine, install it, and all dependencies too. hope that helps to clear things up a bit
