Right click the RPM in Konqueror
Sorry - in SuSE 9.3, KPackage has been replaced by "KRPMView".
In either case, KPackage or KPRMView, the point I was trying to make was "use the GUI that Konqueror gives you":
1. Go to the "home" icon on your menu bar.
Or the "My computer" icon on your desktop.
Or just bring up Konqueror
<= All these are equivalent
2. Browse to your RPM
3. Right click the RPM
In SuSE 9.3, Konqueror will suggest "Preview in KPRMView?"
Select KPRMView. It will give you an option to "install with Yast?".
This provides an easy, painless way to install an RPM on your system. It's literally harder to explain that it is just to try it! Go for it!
4. Previous versions of SuSE/Konqueror suggested "KPackage" instead of "KRPMView" when you right-clicked
the RPM. From your perspective, they both do exactly the same thing.
5. The command line tool is "rpm". Frankly, that's the one I use most often.
Please refer to "man 8 rpm" for more details.
'Hope that helps .. PSM
