Yast - Installing Software
Hi,
i use Suse 9.1 Pro and recently i have reinstalled the system while keeping the /home unformatted. I use it in a different partition. Now, when i try to install software from the original DVD with yast, when i open the Install and Remove Software and type an expression in the field Search, it searches only the installed packages. It doesn't search the DVD for packages to install. I have in the Change Source of Installation the option for the dvd. Any ideas?:) |
this doesnt exactly answer your question but it makes install packages much easier. Try using apt-get. its really cool. see this fourm
relating to your question: heres what my entry looks like for the cds... status [on] name [.......] url [cd:///;devices=/dev/hdc,/dev/hdd im not sure what all that means. im guessing it needs to copy the info to your hard drive to know whats on the dvd. with apt-get it downloads and installs the packages off the net so you'll hardly need your suse dvd. |
Thanks a lot, i'll check out that site.
In fact, now there is no problem. After a few days, now it is ok without changing the parameters. I don't know why... Anyway thanks!:) |
