YAST Installation Source Flashes and vanishes 10.1
When I try to use YAST to install software from the Suse 10.1 DVD the Installation source screen appears briefly and vanishes.
I have the same problem with Software Management, System Update and Online Update. I think there is a message that package management information is in use by another application (or somethiung similar). I also use apt and apt-get to install software usually via synaptic. Where does the pakage management information reside so I can see what else is using it and remove any lock. Thanks |
You should go to the openSUSE page and check it out. I believe they mention something about YaST being messed up after installation. Luckily, they give rather detailed methods of fixing that.

Thanks for the suggestion.
I started with the OpenSuse forum on Yast and its problems. I seem to have something holding the package management database open and Yast cannot lock or access the database when this occurs. I have tried various repair options but am unable to free the lock and have been unable to find what is locking the package database or if there is a bug in Yast. I have tried using apt to do an update to Yast but this did not help. |
