yast doesnt start

yast doesn't start, I tried starting from console, but I got the same result

I got this error message though.

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

y2controlcenter: cannot connect to X server :0.0

Does anybody know what might be the problem?

I think you can start yast through KDE or Gnome (if you have installed the X Server)

Open a terminal, and as a normal user, type:

xhost +

then, "su" to root and type yast2

Regards!

Very very strange. Sorry mate, but I never have seem any problem like that.

Anyway, when you fire YaST2 up from the terminal and try to click in a button and nothing happens, check the terminal where you've typed yast2 to see if any error messages are reported...

I hope it will work fine for you mate . By the way, during the installtion, when you choose the packages to be installed, make sure to check the box "Check Dependecies". I did not use that when I first installed SuSE and I left out a hole bunch of vital packages (me == )
