ok here's the deal.. obviously GAIM isn't working with yahoo cause yahoo doesn't want to cooperate.. so i downloaded the freebsd version of yahoo messenger from their site.. it downloaded as fbsd4.ymessenger.tgz (if memory serves me correct) and the instructions say to log in as root and type "pkg_add fbsd4.ymessenger.tgz"
so i do that and it says YOU SUCK CAUSE THERE IS NO COMMAND PKG_ADD TRY AGAIN MORON
lmao so any help would be greatly appreciated
i'm using mandrake 9.2 and the only thing i see to add software packages is RPM but i can't get rpm to see the tgz file from yahoo... even tried adding a rpm source pointed at the directory where the tgz file is located.. no good... so this is probably a real noob question but i would appreciate any help
also.. i'm tired of only being able to install packages from the mandrake cd's.. with debian i could apt-get and it was quite easy to add apt-get ftp and http sources.. but with rpm i can't seem to find any ftp sites that i can add to the sources.. is there a handy dandy rpm site (ftp or http) that i can add to the sources list in rpm manager? pretty please?
any help is greatly appreciated.. you can answer here or if you have all the answers to my questions feel free to drop me an email
my addy is Azathot [at] sojurn [dot] net
of course i format the email that way to avoid the spam and such.. but you get the idea.. again thanks for any help
