i just recently installed suse 10 gnome on my desktop and i cant get on the net no matter what config i try, has anyone got sbc dsl to work on their system that could help or direct me in the right direction. its a 2wire dsl modem if that helps at all.
First I would call them to confirm that your sercive is actually working and they can loop the modem.
If your service is up then you need to proceed considering their network. Are they providing a static or dynamic ip? If you are being issued a dynamic ip then you need the DNS servers.
Were you able to obtain a dynamic ip from them? Did the ip present their DNS servers? if not you might just need to obtain the DNS entries and then hardcode them in. Meaning that you will need to enter their servers into your DNS entries.

I had pretty much the same problem. When I called up Yahoo they seemed to have never herar of Linux. Then I had one one tech support guy who basically said, "sorry, we don't suppport that..." I found I had to ask very specific questions, after I'd lied to to them and told them I was running Windoz. Once you get the DSN #s it should configure fine. Good luck.

Hi,
I have sbc dsl and used to run the 2wire home portal 1000SW (now I've changed the router) but I had no problems running it. I should tell you that I used ethernet connection and not usb connection. I, however, don't remember me doing anything exceptional to get it work.
