Unhappy xxx.so.1? where to find it?!

When I install the rpm packages, I come across the problem like xxx.so.1 is needed by brabrabra. Well, how do I know where to find the rpm package which contains the document needed? THX.

In general, that's why most folks should use yum or apt, instead of using rpm directly. The yum and apt tools figure out the dependencies, and get the needed packages automatically.

If you want to do this manually, you can go to rpmfind or rpmbone. Enter the name of the file, and they will tell you which package contains that file. If the package is available from your distribution, use that version to avoid conflicts.
