Xwindows refuses to start after restarting after 9 Hours

I have been using this CentOS 6 installation for the past 7 days fine with GUI. Two days back I had shut down the machine and powered on after about 9 hours but never booted completely. After several tries, booted into single user mode and edited inittab to runlevel 3. So far so good; am able use the box with only CLI. Xwindows reports incompatibility of drivers. Funny side is that until I had shut down 9 hours before, the GUI was working fine.

As I am using/can only wireless for internet connectivity, am unable to configure the same from CLI.

Following is the log of Xorg

Hey did you run any update on the system ?

Have you installed any proprietary video drivers ?

Hello kuumaran,

Do one thing, just find the process ID of X:

Code:
$ ps -e | grep X
then, kill the process X

Code:
su
# kill -9 <process_ID_X>
Code:
# killall X
then logout

and then after loging in reconfigure you X system:

Code:
#X -config /root/xorg.conf
then replace this new X file with the old one in it's respective directory

#mv /root/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf

and then restart the system.

Hello khushifairy,

Please explain how you managed to solve your problem?
That could be helpful to kumaaran also.

And if you find the post helpful and solved your problem, please give your feedback and reputation.

Thanks very much to all of you who tried helping me resolve this issue.

I, in hard way, realized that the actual problem was with the mother board. The same hard disk used in another motherboard didn't have any issues.

Once again thanks very much all of you.
