xwindow will not start after dual head trial
Hello all,
I have tried to set up dual head on the Linux Fedora core 6 (desktop streched on two monitors). I read that it is buggy but I tried any way. The problem is that as soon as I set it up through the KDE my display settings are messed up and xwindows will not start. Can anyone tell me which file actualy holds the informations about the display and how can I set it up to the default values. Thank you Ogi |

The file you're looking for is probably in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. FC6 is VERY old, though...the current is FC9, and some of the bugs/problems you're having, may go away with an upgrade. There are two ways to do dual-heads: twinview (usually for nVidia cards), and xinerama. Xinerama works great for me, but it can be a bear to set up. I personally don't like Twinview, though. I *THINK* you can run xf86config, and rebuild a working X configuration, but copy that working file somewhere, before monkeying around with dual-heads again. That way, you can just recopy the working file and restart X/reboot, and you'll be back and going. |
