Xubuntu or Mint Xfce?
Which of the two now in september 2012, is preferred? Xubuntu or Mint Xfce?
To be lightweight, software repositories, stability, ease of use, security, and online banking security... and I like compiz, while composing documents... I want to make up one of them into the equivalent of Ubuntu Studio and CE. Dual boot with Windows 7. Planning to upgrade my netbook to 1 or 2 Gib RAM. |
Xubuntu is beautiful but with less media codecs.
Linux Mint is a little bit less beautiful but usable and has more codecs. Codecs are plugins to support media files suitable when need to work with people around the world or in the studio. |

Code:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras xubuntu-restricted-extras vlc |
Ubuntu Studio now uses Xfce desktop so why not just install that?

For everyday use, I prefer Xubuntu. Ubuntu Studio does look to be excellent for multimedia-related tasks, but I wouldn't choose it for a general-purpose system. |
