Xubuntu Booting problem

Hello,
I just installed Xubuntu 8.1 on my VM WARE machine(virtual machine).the installation was successfully completed and then it prompted me to remove my disc from the cd tray and restart the system.

I did so and a Memory check (over a blue screen) started which continued for hours.(2.5 hrs) and still didnt' complete. There were choices for escape, which when i pressed led to the same Memory check. Can you tell me how to go over this problem.??

Thanks!

That's pretty strange..?

however, it may have been the reboot; try using shutdown instead.
Then restart Xubuntu of VHD, not cd

That sounds as if memtest was somehow selected as the default boot option in grub and there was no timeout or too short a timeout to change that in the menu. You'll want to boot from CD again and check the menu.lst or grub.conf file in /boot/grub in the virtual machine.
