I just installed Debian 3.0 but hit the wrong button at some point and exited the startup package installer (the one that comes after the task installer.) So I have Debian text based but 'startx' doesn't work, I installed xserver-xfree86 4.2.1-3bunk.4 and i then tried "apt-get install KDE" which gave me a no packages error. So I preferably need the name of the package manager used in the instalation so I can select the packages I need. Any other suggestion are welcome. Hope you can help, thanks.
I don't think that would help. I don't have the packages I need to run KDE, that won't install KDE will it? Plus I'm probably missing xserver components aswell.

Here's what I have installed for KDE and XFree the version numbers could be different depending on where you are trying to install from but the package names should be similar.

I'm just about to reboot and try that out, I figured out deselect because i typed dpkg and viewed the help for that which said try dselect but I couldn't remember 'tasksel' so thanks for the help, and if that doesn't work I'll use apt-get to install all of the packages on HappyTux's list. I'll post back to say if it works.
