xscreensaver issues
Hello all!
I am getting frustrated with my xscreensaver. I have selected it to run under the "random screensaver" option, and have selected about 12 - 15 of the visuals that I like. Most of the tiem ,it rotates between my selected savers with no problem, and they rotate just as I specified, which is every 3 minutes.
At some points in time however, it will start one of the screensavers that isn't on my list, and is then stuck with that unauthorized screensaver until I type or move the mouse. Interestingly in this case, if I move the mouse, it waits 5 minutes (default start time under my config), but if I type a single key on the keyboard, the "bad" screen saver will disappear for about 10 seconds, then one of the "good" screen savers will start up immediately.
Here are some specs, although I don't think they are of any importance:
FC3
KDE 3.3
xscreensaver (run from CLI)
Here is the ~/.xscreensaver file, should anyone see errors in that:
Code:

Any ideas on how I can keep the screensaver from escaping the parameters I set for it?
Thanks for the help,

maybe you have set another screensaver in the kde controlpanel kcontrol.
if you run xscreensaver from the commandline/autostart/cli, you must not use the internal screensaver function, as in this case, two instances run...

There are two switches, set to TRUE, that tell xscreensaver to use images in addition to those specified in your imagedir. Look in your output for this set of switches. They are located at the end of the list of settings, above the debug mesages. When you configure xscreensaver, there are a coiuple of tabs -- or buttons -- that allow "advanced" attributes to be set, or that allow you to tweak some other aspect of xscreensaver. (I'm not running it at the moment since I can't stop the darned monitor from shutting off after 10 minutes of inactivity).
As an alternative you might try editing .xscreesaver (the config file) directly. The switches appear in it just as you see them, below. It sounds like you want the first set to False.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!
In response to JohnBoy, I want that switch set to true, as some of the screen savers are image manipulations that interact with the desktop, like the ant with a spotlight and such. When I get home from work I'll try setting it to false, just to see if that has any effect. It seems the grab of desktop images shouldn't effect what saver was used, just if it grabs he image as part of the saver. I will certainly investigate in any case.
To doc.nice, that is reasonable, however when I used the KDE control panel, the default screen saver control is the same gui as running xscreensaver or xscreensaver-demo at the command line. It isn't out of the question that the same gui frontend can be put over 2 different backends, but then I would probably see different results - I forgot to mention in my previous posts, sometimes I leave the monitor on while at work, and coming home 10-12 hours later, it still is shuffling between the savers I chose, and it did it all day. That seems like it is too much to have 2 separate servers running. I'll do a ps-ef and post the results from home later, just to be certain.
Thanks, and I'll appreciate any further suggestions people have.
Peace,
JimBass
