XP Partitions, sometimes sda, sometimes sdc...

Hi

I have several ext3 partitions over about 3 physical disks, and 2 fat32 partitions used to dual boot into XP

Why is it sometimes they have to be mounted under sda1 and sda2, and other times they have to be mounted under sdc1 and sdc2?

I could understand this if I were moving the connectors around inside the PC, buy my /etc/fstab is configured using UUIDs, so why are the device labels different each time I boot up?

Strange...

Regards

You will have to create udev rules using the same UUIDs in order to permanently assign the device names. More information can be found in the manual page for udev.
Code:
man udev

IDE drive ??? - probably depends on whether you have something else (USBkey) plugged in when you boot.
The initscripts are a bit (lot) flaky with Ubuntu.
