I recompiled X.org yesterday, with a bit of mucking around I've managed to get it semi-working and start fluxbox so it's not all bad. However I don't think I have any fonts Also gdm won't start on boot, says it can't load shared library libXau.6.so. When I say I don't think I have any fonts, in flux the menus appear very small (like 6px x 2px) but when I use the keypad I can see the selection moving up and down on the menu... Also Firefox wouldn't load and when I shutdown X I saw an error message about Fontconfig.

I've searched but I couldn't find anything that really helped but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Thanks for any tis

Okay, it's a fluxbox error. I can probably fix that a lot easier than if it was with X.org If anyone still feels an urge to suggest anything though, it complains about FbTk and fonts and a "fixed" setting? I'll try recompiling it and see how that goes, if I get desperate though, enlightenment still works...
