xmms wont play mp3
 

When I open xmms, and click on a mp3 file, it would pop up a window to let me choose a mp3 file. Then when I click on an mp3 to play it pops up the same window, and the same thing starts over again. How do i fix this?

what distro are you using???

yea, you need some plugins (or check to make sure the mp3 plugin is not disabled


xmms pops up that pick a file windows anytime it doesn't know how to play the file

why do after i download the xmms and plugs-in name 1.2.7-21.p.src.rpm to run my mp3,there is an error said
bash:rpmbuild command not found
for # rpmbuild -rebuild xmms-1.2.7-21.p.src.rpm command.
what should i do next to enjoy my red hat 9 linux by having my mp3?

Probably I'm 99% sure that you are using some or other version of REdhat/Fedora, which has never ever supported multimedia properly after ver7.3
btw best to get all support is download source from xmms website and compile the source yourself.

If you are comfortable with command line then mpg123 is the tool that you ahould be looking for.
