XMMS version Mandrake 10.2

Hi,

I was trying to get XMMS for MAndrake 10.2 but I couldn't find. Currently I am running Amarok but for soem odd reason Amarok messes up my sound. I need a Mandrake 10.2 compatible version for XMMS. Is there one out there?

I read a few other forums and seems like Mandrake 10.2 comes with XMMS but I couldn't find it on my computer.

I would really appreciat e all the help I can get.

Thanks

Hmm that would be un-usual if 10.2 did not come with XMMS by default. Have you tried:

It should be under "Multimedia >> Sound"

Try in a terminal:

xmms
or
/usr/bin/xmms

if it is not installed use the package mgr or:
# urpmi xmms

Nope its not there.

I tried doing # urpmi xmms and nothign happens. Like it doesn't sy invalid command or anything....basically its like it executes the line "#urpmi xmms" and then goes to the next prompt.

Hope this makes sense...any ideas about what else I can do to get xmms.

Thanks

Go here first and setup your urmpi sources, you'll need them in the furture anyway:
http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/

Also you can launch RPMDrake from root and search for "xmms" You'll need your install disks.

# rpmdrake

You can also get the .tar and .rpm from xmms web site.

You don't actually type the # sign. This is used to indicate that the command specified has to be run as root (because the standard root prompt is this sign, rather than the $ used for normal users).

just to let you know, it is there, I used rpmdrake to install it. I just got it

Open the mandrake control center, open the rpmdrake and install xmms.
