XMMS + Sound + 2 x ROM drives

Hi guys, two questions in one here.

Firstly I have downloaded the cdaudio plugin for xmms which theoretically allows me to hear sound even though I don't have the thin wire from my CD-ROM to my soundcard. I still can't hear anything however all things suggest the CD is actually playing. i.e track number, duration ticking over etc etc.

2nd issue is that I have a DVD and CD-RW. For some reason XMMS will only detect cd audio files to add to playlist from my DVD. Why is this?? It doesn't seem to detect the burner as a ROM medium.

Because in order to work your CD writer is configured as a SCSI device, so XMMS will not interpret it as an ATAPI/IDE device which is what it expects...
