XMMS problem, no sound
hi everybody,
i installed redhat linux 9, and the XMMS player was unable to play mp3, i installed the required rpm's, but then it was not playing the songs and also was getting hanged. So, i installed XMMS 1.2.8, but this is giving me another problem. it is playing mp3 very fast and without any output (sound). What might be the problem ? and how can i solve it. Thanx, D.C. |

well from this link you only need to download and install the first package at the top of the page. there's something glitched with version 1.2.8 which does the same thing for others. check your home directory for that version also seems to write *.wav files in there. if you're still not getting sound, check the xmms preferences (right-click on xmms window title bar and choose options > preferences). check the output plugin. if you're using kde, use the arts output and if you're using gnome, use the oss output. |
i have the same thing.. my player hangs or stops playing music most of the time.. then outta no where it turns back on... what do you mean arts plugin? where can i get that? i just have mp3 plugin or something... i downloaded that xmms on the link and my mp3's still wont play most of time.

xmms calls it a plugin, but it's really a sound driver. kde uses arts for it's sound driver/server and gnome uses oss. these should already be installed by your distro automatically.
|
so your sayin where i see "mp3 plugin" there should be a arts driver? i dont see it?
