Xming logout button inactive on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 using Gnome Data Manager

(viewed four similar threads, but no solution for my problem)

I log on using Xming's XLaunch, with WindowMode="Windowed" ClientMode="XDMCP" XDMCPHost="<whatever>" Display="0" Clipboard="true" ...

My Linux box uses Gnome Data Manager (gdm) instead of X. To log out, I navigate System > Log Out ...

A popup dialog tells me I'll be automatically logged out in 60 seconds, and provides two buttons: one labeled "Log Out," and one labeled "Cancel." If I click the "Log Out" button, nothing happens before the 60 seconds expire, at which time I am logged out.

Following the auto-logout, I am returned to the login screen, which also provides links labeled Language, Session, and Disconnect. If I click the Disconnect link, I am returned once again to the login screen. When I then click the x in the top right corner to exit from Xming, a popup alert tells me there are 3 clients connected, and provides buttons labeled "Exit" and "Cancel." Clicking the Exit button does work.
