xinetd problem??
Hi world,
I am a real newbie to linux and thus pose the following problem!! I have installed Red Hat 7.2 and am trying to get the pop mail server running correctly. I have installed the package and it does work however.... When a client tries to connect it times out. If I telnet to the port it sits there for about 40 seconds and then eventually answers. Why would it be taking so long for xinetd to start the service? How can I get the service to stay started? and When I try to start the service using 'service ipop3 start' I get the message 'ipop3: unrecognized service'. The service does show up under the X service manager however I can't do anythign with it there. I have added the pop3 script to /etc/xinetd.d but still no luck. Any help would be great Thank Dean |
Just to add to the problem, I have just noticed that if I telnet to the server from the server on port 110 that the ipop3 service comes up immediatley.......
