Xine refuses to play MP3s

Dear all,

I had SuSE9.3 up and running, and had no problem whatsoever playing audio files (mp3, wma, etc.)

Since upgrading to 10.1, xine refuses to play any kind of audio file (besides .flac).

For MP3s, I get: xxx.mp3 uses an unsupported plugin : Audio Codec MPEG 1 layer 3 CBR(0x0)

For WMAs: no plugin available to handle MPEG layer 2/3

My /usr/lib/win32 directory if heavily populated with codecs.

I've also tried to install either the "older" (SuSE 9.3) or another (for SuSE but not compiled by SuSE) xine package, but both tell me that they need "older" ImageMagick objects (they ask for xxx.so.6, and I have .so.9 installed - I've posted a thread in "Software" asking how to solve this kind of problem).

How can I get things running again?

Thank!

Uninstall all xine and kaffeine packages and install the ones from packman.

@reddazz
I can't install the packages from packman because they ask for LibMagick.so.6 and LibWand.so.6, and I have the .so.9 versions... and if I uninstall the versions I have, I must uninstall other packages (which in turn are necessary for other ones and so on...)

Is there any way to install the "old" packages concurrently with the new ones?

I have never had that dependency problem. You could try installing libxine from here and then install kaffeine from packman.

Thanks. Actually, I had to do it the hard way (the RPMs that come with SuSE 10.1 are newer). So I've uninstalled all the conflicting packages, and built everything up from there.

10.1 is still alpha software, so maybe full of bugs.
