Ximian installation and Segmentation error

I'm not sure if this goes here, but here it goes:
As I'm trying to install the Ximian desktop I get an error:
"Application "var/cache/redcarpet/installer-redhat-71-i386" (process 1993) has crashed due to a fatal error (Segmentation fault)
"
and then the installation program dies. I've tried rebooting, and redownloading the files, but nothing seems to work. Furthermore this error occurs at the same place in the process every time. I recently helped a friend installing the same program without any problems.
Is similar to the windows exception error, ie ignore, or is it correctable?

Grateful for any reply!
johan
