XFree86Config File Copy Question.
I had a very hard time and failed to get Mandrake, KDE to work. The windows used to try to load but close immediately. It appears to be an XFree86 config problem. I even used XFDrake but there was no improvement.
Will it be OK if I were to copy my XFree86 config file from Vector Linux that works to Mandrake ? Will Mandrake load then ? Thanks. Vijay |
Depends on which version of X is on Vector, what the problem is that is causing the loading to abruptly stop, and a few other environment variables, but the easy answer is:
Try and see ;) Backup your existing XF86Config-4 on Mandrake first, then try it. Cool |
It shouldn't be a problem, although if they are using different XF86 versions it could create a few glitches.
I have used my Slack 9's XF86Config file on various other distros without too much drama. Just make a backup of your old (non working) file for comparison later. [edit] must learn to type faster than MasterC![/edit] |
