Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone here could tell me about some alternatives to the XFree86 server? I want to try something different, something not-X bases...

thanks!

All of these are X-based. Nobody who knows of any non-X-bases graphical servers for linux?

I've hear of one, but I forgot its name. The only thing I remember is that it has "free" in its name... No help searching for something with "free" as the only clue...

plz help!

There is a new fork of XFree86 that is supposed to be a *hopefully* intelligent rewrite removing a lot of the network-legacy code and old crap that kinda stops it from offering a home desktop class system 'because it's a little sluggish. But I can't remember what it is, but it's either in the last Linux Format or the one b4 it.

It's name was short, like ephanim.....

Hope this helps
