XFree86
I've under my /etc/X11 two files named XF86Config and XF86Config-4, what are the differences between these files and what Do I have to put where?
Thx Dummoi |
Hello,
If you want to see the exact differences, try: Code:
diff XF86Config XF86Config-4 For the exact configuration, if you really don't know what to put in it, you have configuration programms like xf86cfg or xf86config which may help you. Oliv' |
gentoo uses Config-4 one, so if you're using gentoo it's probably the file it reads.

Xfree86 has "some" backward compatibility.
The 4th versions try to read XF86Config-4 first, and if not available they look for XF86Config. If you have XF86Config-4 it is likely your distro use it. So if any modification will be necessary it should be done to XF86Config -4. Ciao |
