I'm looking for drivers for my ATI Radeon 7500 Mobile, and in the process, someone said to install current DRI ..

What the hell is XFREE and DRI..

I'm already sorted out the difference between the OpenGL and MesaGL, but .. how do i know what im using?

And how do i find version for XFREE?

check into the config options in the file /etc/X11/XF86Config or /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 for mdk, that is the only distro i know of with the -4, anyways thats where it is specified for what driver is to be used...so you can start with that file and learn about that..
