XFCE missing titlebar, menu bar, window frames under xubuntu 6.06
The other day I installed Xubuntu 6.06 on my Thinkpad 600e (replacing Win98).
All has been good until earlier today, when I booted up to find that the apps are missing their titlebars and window frames (so i cannot move them or resize them) and i'm also missing the bar with the menu button and system tray etc. on it. Er, any idea what I've done? I've tried apt-get install xfce4 (not sure why it wasn't installed already) but that's made no difference at all. Fluxbox and Enlightenment WMs work, but i'd much rather be using XFCE. |
Hi,
I do not have any idea what you did, only one thing I am sure is that your package is broken. try apt-get reinstall <package> instead of apt-get install <package>. Happy Penguins! |
I had the exact same problem. If you do startx as root, do you get everything back? I did, so what I did was delete all of the X/xfce/xfwm config/log/etc files in my home dir and THEN do startx. That fixed it for me. (all custom configuration like menu edits, etc had to be re-done, unfortunately)
