Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I am lost on why my Modeline isnt working from my xvidtune output. Im sure its something simple I'm overlooking but I tried searching on this topic but havent found exactly what I was looking for. Maybe it was my wording I used in searching . Anyway here is my xvidtune output :
Vendor: , Model: MultiSync 77
Num hsync: 1, Num vsync: 1
hsync range 0: 31.00 - 70.00
vsync range 0: 55.00 - 120.00
"1024x768" 94.50 1024 1080 1176 1376 768 769 772 808
Maybe cause I dont have Vendor specified? If thats the case im not sure what I should put in or what section it would go in my XF86Config.I use DDC probed. Well did before the ati drivers disabled it.
anyway here is my xf86config with my added Modeline :
# The chipset line is optional in most cases. It can be used to override
# the driver's chipset detection, and should not normally be specified.
# Chipset "generic"
# The Driver line must be present. When using run-time loadable driver
# modules, this line instructs the server to load the specified driver
# module. Even when not using loadable driver modules, this line
# indicates which driver should interpret the information in this section.
# The BusID line is used to specify which of possibly multiple devices
# this section is intended for. When this line isn't present, a device
# section can only match up with the primary video device. For PCI
# devices a line like the following could be used. This line should not
# normally be included unless there is more than one video device
# Any number of screen sections may be present. Each describes
# the configuration of a single screen. A single specific screen section
# may be specified from the X server command line with the "-screen"
Device "ATI Graphics Adapter"
Modes "1024x768" "800x600"
ViewPort 0 0 # initial origin if mode is smaller than desktop
# Virtual 1280 1024
I posted the last without asking one more common question. After the Ati drivers are set up how do you change the resolution? Or do you just manually deleting the other resolutions in the XF86Config? Been searching a while but cant find anything maybe my wording.. I know ctr alt + / - but other than that.
