xf86config
i cant seem to find the xf86config file. ive looked in places it should be [i.e. /etc/x11] but no luck :( any ideas? do i have to make one?
|
try /usr/X11R6/etc ?
d you even have one tho? (and yes you need to make one i think) Code:
xf86config |
It's according to what distro you use. Some don't provide xf86config.
What distro do you use? Are you trying as root? What is the ouput of locate xf86config? |
some distros don't provide it?!!?, but its a standard program for almost all X distributions (at least the popular ones, (xfree86, xorg, etc)
tho i cant say i blame them, some of the programs provided by xfree86 and the like are bad (twm, xterm, umm, thats all i can think of :) ) |
For one, I know it is not in Red Hat 9. I don't know about Fedora but I doubt it. Red Hat only provides their own program.
redhat-config-xfree86 or system-config-xfree86 |
hmm, owell, next thing you know they will replace X with there own version (they already have there own linux kernel don't they?)
i cant say its a bad thing they provide a different program, but must they leave out valuable (well, more standard) programs that are supposed to be installed? (to make it easyer on everyone not using it?) |
