Xebian and Samba. Please help!

Hi all,

I'm trying to build a NAS Xbox running Xebian.
I've followed all the instructions according to: How To: Convert your Xbox to a NAS - Part 1 and 2 onhttp://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/24213/77/ but I cannot see the server from windows XP.
The network seems to work fine and i can login into the server by SSH.
The server uses a fixed IP:192.168.1.10. My computer:192.168.1.2

My samba.conf:
[global]
netbios name = Xebian_Server
server string = Samba Server
workgroup = WORKGROUP
security = share
encrypt passwords = yes
smb passwd file = /var/lib/samba/private/smbpasswd
guest account = live
log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
wins support = yes
hostname lookups = yes
hosts equiv = /etc/hosts
hosts allow = 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 localhost
hosts deny = All
interfaces = lo eth0
bind interfaces only = yes
guest ok = yes
browse list = yes
[public]
path = /home/samba/samba1
comment = Shared folders
guest ok = yes
create mode = 0766
browseable = yes
public = yes
read only = no

When I do smbclient -L localhost, it asks for a password and once entered it displays:

xebian:~# smbclient -L localhost
Password:
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.14a-Debian]

Sharename Type Comment
--------- ---- -------
public Disk Shared folders
IPC$ IPC IPC Service (Samba Server)
ADMIN$ IPC IPC Service (Samba Server)
Domain=[WORKGROUP] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.14a-Debian]

Server Comment
--------- -------
XEBIAN_SERVER Samba Server

Workgroup Master
--------- -------
WORKGROUP XEBIAN_SERVER

Sorry for the long thread.
I've reading other threads regarding this last week and nothing make it work.
I run out of ideas. Can you help me?
Thanks.

Hi,

I suggest disabling the two lines: "hosts equiv" and "hosts deny". I think (am not sure) "hosts deny" takes precedence over "hosts allow". If this does not work, also try disabling "hostname lookups".
