Xandros and Firefox is slower then the second coming...

Using Xandros Deluxe...Deluxe it is, suprised how easy it is.

Anyway, downloaded Firefox and it is moving much too slow for a cable connection. My XP Firefox is a good 25% faster.

Any thoughts?

Several of the major distros suffered from IPv6 troubles which caused hostname resolution times to skyrocket, however that was solved pretty quickly. Also, fixing it was different for every distro, and I never used Xandros. You may want to Google a little for Xandros+ipv6, or something.

Firefox & Xandros are closed books to me but be assured that Firefox is quicker under Linux than under Windows (slackware vs XP).

Maybe just download the latest version and compile from source?

I just downloaded it the other night though, that would have to be the latest eh?

What do you mean that they are closed books?

closed books as in i use a slackware distro and an opera browser....firefox and xandros are not my fields of experience.

however i do know that when i run firefox on slack it is NOT noticeably slower than when i run it on XP.

That said, the reason i run opera is that firefox on linux was unstable for me so maybe it's just a crock still ;-)

Firefox 1.0 on Linux does bomb out a little too much for my liking, yes. Never does on XP.
