X Windows

I've been having issues getting Gnome to startup.

What's the difference between Xorg and XFree86? I used X.org and when Gnome starts up, I get "could not open the default font 'Fixed'."

I've made sure that XFS is installed and running. How would you normally go about installing X and Gnome from scratch?

both x implementations are essentially exactly the same
where they differ one just coppies the other
~~ you are missing fonts ~~
or your fonts arent set up correctly in your config
redhat traditionally runs a font server but you don't have to
installing gnome and x are both rather advanced topics see (google)
