X Windows, ~1/10 Screen random

I have Slackware 9.1 which I installed and works fine. However when I try to run X about 1/10 of the screen is random pixels and the rest is black. I can tell that it is working because when I move the mouse I can see some pixels change. I don't know if this is an obvious config problem or not so I thought I'd see if somebody here knew an easy fix, or if its back to trail and error...

Thanks!

What video card do you have? You'll probably need to configure X to use the right driver.
