x server won't start fatal error: no screens found

System: iMac slot loading
Version: Slackintosh 12.1
Linux exp: -9.8

I like being a linux user but I don't know how to make it work. That is why I want KDE to run. I am trying to start KDE and I have figured out enough to know that I should type startx and then startkde. But when I type startx it ends with a fatal error "no screens found" What is a screen and how do I help it find one?

The screen says it is x.org X Server 1.4.0.90

Also, the goal hear is a internet browsing machine - if there is a better program than slackintosh, I am game to try what ever. The optical drive is a CD player only.

Thanks!

Thanks! But my inexperience has the system stuck in a perpetual reboot now. I ran xorgconfig and had the same result as before - no sceens. I ran xorgsetup then left to mow the yard - I came back and the system had went to sleep - which is never good- and now it seems to be saying the HD is no longer partitioned right. I will start over and try again with out letting it go to sleep. This time I will try not to mow the yard..
