X-server problem


when i go into x-server and get root acesss i cant acesss user robs files without logging on with him,how do i see rob files in root when i close x-server

What do you mean by "can't see"? root will always be able to see
anything (unless he permits users to mount encrypted file-systems).

Please explain what you're trying to achieve.

i am trying to install NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8178-pkg1.run
it wants me to exit x-server and have root acesss to the file to install when i exit x-server i become root user but i cant see NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8178-pkg1.run or any other file that i have downloaded to the desktop or file:/home/rob what do i do?

Try
sh ~rob/Desktop/NVIDIA-Linux-<blurb>

If you're using a WM I don't have handy and only d/led
one driver try:
sh `find ~rob -name "NV*run"`
