knoppix shuts off instead of booting Kdm

Im having a hard time getting X to start on the initial boot of Knoppix 4.0 Live DVD.

Knoppix appears to recognize my hardware, and it does appear to configure X correctly I am able to see the Knoppix logo is load for a brief 5 seconds.

After the logo loads the screen goes back to the console and reports that Xsession has terminated without any Errors.

The Knoppix then shuts my computer off instead of booting up KDM???Why is this??"? Why does it shut down my pc without any errors instead of booting up???

I did forget to mention i am using Nvidia Geforce 4ti 4200

and the oddest thing is the knoppix screen loads for 10 seconds, before it reverts back to the installation screen.

However before the Xserver attempt to configure my card I see a message thats xsession wil terminate. The whole installation ends up rebooting.???

My experience with Knoppix tells me that I will have problems if my boot command is incomplete/inadequate. What is your boot command? Have you looked at the Knoppix Cheat Sheet for options to add to the boot command? I keep a hand-written copy of the command I want to use handy at all times. Although I've installed Knoppix to hard drive, it may be necessary one of these days if I have to boot from the cd again.

a very dull response, but I have often run into this problem myself, that's why: did you try booting from another medium? (like; reburning it on a different cd). I often found my cd to just not work, being clean and all, and another seemlingly equal cd to boot perfectly. just a little thought =]

thank you for the responses

Yes i have printed out the cheat codes
and i have used several such as acpi=off xsever=XFREE86 and XF86_SVGA
I have tried even xmodule=nv and another boot attempt xmodule=vesa or fbdev.

All the same result.

Im wondering if it has anything to do with reading from a Memorex DVD+R.
I have also failed in trying to install Ubuntu. Ubuntu either complains about failing to load module for cdrom, or failing to read from cdrom.

I burn the OS dvd iso using Alcohol and Nero as 12x????
