"X" problems

My xorg.conf just crashed, so i went through the xorgconfig steps, every thing is fine i dont get any errors upon startup. It loads "X" and then proceeds to login but every thing goes black, i get the login sound but i see nothin on my screen. I can even login root w/ the command prompt, then run startx and my screen goes black, i hear the start up sounds, but i see nothing, does any one have a clue on how to fix this also could you pls answer these questions:

1: My "Cntfs partition / windows) is noted as ntfs-c in linux, can i view this from the command prompt pre start up?

2: How do i move a file from location 1 to location 2? Saying i have a file on a floppy disk and i wanna move it do /usr/X11

3: How do you delete a file in the command prompt?

4: When i use #mv, is that a rename command?

Ty for all the help,
Cid

As for the black - it's well possible that the refresh
rate that X chose is to high for the monitor.

Pre-startup? Or outside of X?

mv /path/to/file /path/to/new/home/.

rm filename

Either move or rename ... rename if the location
remains the same but the name changes.

Tink

Sure ... cat /etc/fstab will tell you where it's
mounted to...
