X hates me
 

I hope someone can solve this problem, because it's driving me nuts.

Frequently, when launching an application (and the problem exists regardless which window manager I'm using -- which is what leads me to suspect that X is the root of the evil) the window is much too large for my screen -- often leaving me unable to resize, iconify, close it, access menus, etc., etc., etc. How do I fix this?

And please no smarmy replies about the futility of all GUIs and the superiority of the command line.

just hold down alt and drag the window from anywhere in the middle to more it to a place where you can resize it.

Thanks, that helps ... but is there any way to control the size of windows before they pop up? A config file that can be edited? That would be best.

well, if you close the program, whichever one it is should update it's relevant config file in your home dir. deleting them in the first place should also have fixed the problem, but not as elegantly. i gues it could be more deep rooted than that, but i'd doubt it. never kow, could be something to do with the viewport in our xf86config or something. if it is persistent, come back.
